Domestic Violence Risk Assessment
The Family Safety Portal should only be used by organisations who provide services to people who are at high risk of serious domestic and family violence.
If you are a member of the community needing assistance, please contact the Domestic Violence Crisis Line on 1800 800 098. If you believe your safety or another person’s safety is at risk and requires an immediate response, call the South Australia Police on 131 444 or 000.
Criteria for making a referral
All referrals to the Family Safety Framework must meet the following criteria:
- a person assessed as being at high risk of experiencing serious harm
- the risk is ongoing and/or escalating
- the harm is judged as likely to occur soon
- where a collaborative, multi-agency response is required to mitigate and reduce risk and harm
The Family Safety Framework does not replace internal organisational procedures for responding to and managing safety and risk.
If a person at risk is not currently assessed as high risk, the person should still be supported by the agency worker and, where necessary, be referred to appropriate services, including police.
The Family Safety Portal is not a means to report domestic and family violence to police. This must be done through a police station unless circumstances warrant immediate attendance by police, in which case please call 131 444 or 000.
